Looking for some interesting reading or a new project this weekend? Here are some of my favorite crafty things from the internet this week:
This week’s highlight: PixyStitches’ Free Pattern Friday project
I think Nicci has outdone herself this week - such a gorgeous blackwork pattern! You can grab your copy of this free chart here - it’s only available for a week, so don’t wait!
Other awesomeness from this week:
- Sampler Girl posted a free cross stitch chart celebrating Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthday
- Mollie over at Wild Olive shared a great thread storage idea - it would work perfectly for my handspun thread!
- Feeling Stitchy posted a tutorial for making your own embroidered broach - super cute, I think
- (This one is not really new, but it’s new to me!)There is a fabulous SAL happening over on the Creative Workshops from Hetti blog for 2013, and you can still get the charts from the 2012 SAL as well - these are definitely on my list for upcoming Thread & Fabric Pack projects. (Note: the blog is in both Dutch and English).
- Also on the Creative Workshops from Hetti blog, a brand new Valentine’s cross stitch chart!
Today is also the last day to vote for the fabric in March’s Thread & Fabric Pack, so head over to Facebook and make your selection if you haven’t already.
What was your favorite crafty thing on the internet this week?
Reblogging this for all you crafty folks that follow my personal account!
TUSAL Update - January 2013
It’s the first New Moon of 2013, which means it’s time for my first TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) update.
I actually keep 2 different “ORT” containers - one next to my stitching seat in our living room, and a second one in my office, used for thread left over from skeining batches of my handspun thread. For this month, I took a photo of my office ORT jar, since it’s almost full and much prettier than my stitching one at the moment :)
If you keep your ORTs in a jar, or a container, or in some other form, join the TUSAL! It’s absolutely the easiest stitch-a-long you’ll ever join :)
Reblogging for all you crafty folks that follow my personal account - seriously, this is the easiest SAL you’ll ever join :)
I have never even heard of this. Totally doing it.
Yay!

4” Dredd on 14 count Black Aida, because he is the law, and released on blu-ray today *fistpump*
Seriously, watch it. I don’t know why it didn’t do better at the box office. It had Urban, zero Rob Schneider and the best use of 3D I’ve ever seen. Which is the only use, because I do not like 3D.
Back to the project. Holy Stomm, for such a simple idea, this was a pain in my arse. The first two drafts looked like a thumb in a helmet. Then I managed Desperate Dan cosplaying as Magneto. I finally nailed it with this simple pixelated version. Half a day’s work (were I not on struck down with the lurgy).
Pattern? I have to wait until Friday when David gets home to watch the movie :(
Couldn’t find the source of the original image I saw so I can’t credit them for the idea but I didn’t like that it was off center so I made a new one :p
I need a poster of this, but with a spinning wheel instead. Please?

Special Edition 1235 Now Available - Grab A Skein For Your Next Halloween Project!
Special Edition 1235 is handspun from a blend of green wool with orange and purple bamboo spread throughout. I think it would look fabulous used in blackwork, cross stitch or embroidery.
I was happy to find that the orange and purple in Special Edition 1235 almost perfectly matchPetite Rainbow’s End Orange and Petite Rainbow’s End Purple - they seemed like the ideal addition to the Special Edition 1235 Thread & Fabric Pack! To round it out, I added a cut of 35 count Confederate Grey linen from Week’s Dye Works.
The Special Edition Thread Pack will only be available until October 21st, so don’t wait to grab yours!
Just a few hours left for this Thread & Fabric Pack, so grab one while you can!
